Affordable Block Flowers for Valentine's Day at Five Below

Looking for a great Galentine's Day party idea for spending quality time with your gal pals and creating memories? Creating picture perfect bouquets is a great idea.

Claude Monet once said, “I must have flowers, always and always.” I 100% agree with him. Flowers are a necessity to brighten up homes and hearts.

But… flowers are expensive. And they die.

Enter Lego flowers because plastic is forever- well, not forever, but you catch my drift. What’s even better than Lego flowers? Cheaper alternatives, such as the Five Below’s block flowers- Block Tech Block Bouquet Flowers.

Five Below Lego Flowers Alternative

A couple of years ago, Five Below introduced an alternative to Lego flowers, and the product quickly gained popularity. The flowers in question are Block Tech’s Block Bouquet Flowers.

They’re cute. They’re fun. And they make an excellent Galentine’s Day activity or a solo treat for yourself!

So far, the brand has created around 17 flowers for customers to purchase and create bouquets. Each flower costs $3.25, making them much more cost-efficient and budget-friendly than Lego flowers.

Block Tech Bouquet Flowers Review

These flowers were easy to make. Each box has instructions and two packs of bricks- one packet of smaller pieces and the other holds the larger ones.

In the three flowers that I made, I always had extra pieces- which is much better than having too few.

It took me an average of 40 minutes or so to make each flower. Overall, it was a fun experience and easy to do while playing a movie in the background.

The above photo gallery features pictures of the Five Below Block Tech Bouquet Flowers packaging and pieces.

Block Tech Bouquet Flowers vs Lego Flowers

Before I knew about the Five Below Lego Flowers, I purchased a set of two Lego-branded roses, which cost around $14. I loved making them. So, imagine my excitement while strolling around my local Five Below and finding their more affordable versions!

So how do these two products compare side by side?

The Block Tech flower stems are thinner and slightly weaker than the Lego ones. I move things around a lot. I’ve never had my Lego flowers break, but my Block Tech ones sometimes fall apart if I’m not super careful.

For the price, however, Block Tech seems to have more variety than Lego, which I enjoy. I also appreciate that I can choose what flowers I want, allowing me to create a bouquet of just the ones I like.

One full Block Tech bouquet (pictured in the bottom left corner of each flower’s box) usually has six flowers. If you purchased every flower for that bouquet, the cost is around $19.50. The most popular Lego flowers (Lego Icons Flower Bouquet Botanical Collection Building Set 10280) costs, on average, $47.99. The Lego bouquet features 10 flowers, making each bloom cost around $4.79.

The above photo gallery shows a comparison of the product boxes and finishes of Lego’s roses and two Five Below Block Bouquet flowers. I will admit to mild disappointment that the cornflower I purchased ended up being blue instead of the pretty purple color advertised on the box at Five Below.

Other Cheap Lego Flower Alternatives

While writing this article, I noticed the stock for Block Tech flowers at Five Below is a little low. My local Five Below seems to have plenty of the Birds of Paradise flowers of the original sets. There were also tulips and lilac, so I would imagine a restock of those as the Easter season starts.

But who knows when the next stock might happen. In case you don't want any of the available flowers, I've gathered some other options. Here are a few alternatives if you're looking for a Valentine's Day or Galentine's Day flower-building activity:

Five Below has a decent supply of Block Tech succulents. While these aren't flowers per se, they're still pretty cute.

Walmart sells a similar product to the Five Below Lego Flowers alternatives called Bricktanicals. These flowers cost a little more than their Five Below competition. However, they are a good option if you only want to build one or two flowers and still pay less than Lego.

I haven't purchased or tried these three products, but they appear comparable to Block Tech's and Lego's Flowers.

Final Thoughts on Five Below Lego Flowers

While they aren't Lego-brand, these Five Below Block Tech Flowers are growing increasingly popular. And why shouldn't they? Any product that allows you to have such cute, wholesome fun on a budget deserves popularity.

A build-night with your gal pals is one of many great galentine day ideas. While out at Five Below, don't forget the face masks so you can have a spa day while making your flowers. Enjoy!
