Three Amazing Tips to Save More Money with Michaels Coupons
I am not affiliated with Michaels or any product listed in this article.
Michaels is the most expensive chain craft store for most crafting supplies (compared to Hobby Lobby and Joanns). Thankfully, there are easy ways to save money while shopping- it just takes a little planning! I never pay full price on anything if I can help it- and neither should you. This article is here to help you save more money with Michaels coupons, deals, and rewards!
Take Advantage of 40% off Michaels Coupons
One thing I always do when I’m shopping at Michaels is search online for in-store coupons. They always seem to have a percentage off full-priced purchases or one-item coupons. The percentage off ranges usually from 20% to 40%, and they aren’t usable on sale or clearance. Sometimes, the coupon works online and in-store, but other times, it only qualifies for online shopping.
I highly recommend checking Michaels’ website for coupons before leaving for the store. If you can only use the coupon online, it may be worth it to do an online order and pick it up in-store to save more money! (Plus, if you’re anything like me, this might prevent you from picking up items you didn’t need while meandering around… Wait- how did that clearance item get in my cart?! Oh well, I guess I’ll buy it- it’s a good price, after all!)
Utilize the Weekly Ad
Do you have a particular project in mind that you need a specific type of supplies for? Weekly ads are your friend for finding those items on sale at the right time.
For example, Michaels occasionally offers a “buy three get three free” deal for their jewelry and bead strands. If you want to make friendship bracelets, I recommend stocking up on beads during this promotion. The glass seed beads for $4.99 are my favorites. The last time I took advantage of this deal, I got six strands of these beads for less than $15; I’ve made over 30 bracelets, and I’m not even halfway through all the beads yet!
The weekly ad will alert you to seasonal deals and sales events, such as Michaels' semi-annual 70% sale.
Here's how to find the weekly ad quickly:
Click on the three lines at the top left-hand corner
Scroll through the menu options til you find "Weekly Ad" - it'll be in the second bracketed section
Again, you can’t use coupons with sales, promotions, or clearance. Weigh whether the promotion is a better deal or if the coupon would save you more money.
Join the Michaels Rewards Program
I cannot stress enough how much I love this rewards program. Michaels’ Rewards is the best in-store rewards program of the three main craft stores. Hobby Lobby doesn’t even have a loyalty program.
Here are some quick points on how you get easy rewards and extra Michaels coupons:
All members earn at least 3% back in rewards on their purchases, which cash out in $5 intervals.
Surprise bonus $5 reward vouchers. Michaels sends bonus rewards periodically. Most recently all members who joined on or before 1/14/2025 received a free surprise of $5!
Earn a $5 reward when you spend $25 after signing up!
These rewards are usable on anything in the store and are combinable with coupons! So, pair your $5 reward with that discount coupon you find online for the best deal!
If you’re not a Michaels rewards program member, sign up now! It is the best way to save money at Michaels and get access to exclusive Michaels coupons.
Final Thoughts
While Michaels is the most expensive craft store of the big three usually, they make it easy for their customers to save money with excellent sales, coupons, and a great rewards program. Once you’re aware these resources are available to you and know how to find them, you’ll be unstoppable in your savvy craftiness.
