Get A Free Hallmark Card Every Month This Year
Did you know there was a way to get a free Hallmark card each month? Hallmark's slogan "When you care enough to send the very best" identifies the brand with quality, caring, and heartfelt greeting cards. It also makes me think about their higher prices- which I don't want to pay. But getting a coupon for a free card makes them the most affordable place for brand-new cards- all you have to do is sign up for rewards.
How to Get Free Hallmark Cards
Hallmark gives their Crown Rewards Members (members of their rewards program- which is free) a coupon at the start of every month for a free card (regularly valued at $2.99!).
You can join the program either online or in-store. If you sign up while shopping in-store, you likely will get a coupon for a free card to use in that current transaction right after signing up. So you could go in-store, pick up one of the free cards, and head to check out, sign up, and get that card for free immediately.
Which Cards Are Free at Hallmark?
Getting an email for a free card is exciting- but the coupon isn’t for just any card that strikes your fancy. The free monthly cards from Hallmark are usually from a specific line of cards called “Just Because.”
These are some of my favorite cards the company has made. The material is good and not flimsy. You won’t find a birthday card or an anniversary card in this section, but there are cards for sympathy, encouragement, hellos, thank you, thinking of you, friendship, love, blanks, and more to choose from! There are some pretty cute ones, and I love getting this Hallmark freebie.
You can get a small Just Because card, which is regularly $1.99, or a regular-sized one (normally $2.99).
However, Hallmark sometimes switches it up and changes the monthly free card to another card line for a single month. Last year, during the early summer months, they switched the free Just Because cards for Venmo cards. For August and September of last year (2024), they offered a free Shoebox card (the company’s humor line).
If you don’t love the Just Because cards, Hallmark may temporarily change the offering for a month- so be on the lookout. Your coupon will have all the necessary information.
Can I Get My Free Hallmark Card Online?
The monthly free Just Because card only applies in-store.
Can I Get a Free Hallmark Card without Signing Up?
You must sign up for Crown Rewards to get a free monthly card. But signing up for Hallmark rewards is kinda worth it.
They periodically send bonus rewards to customers (usually a $2 value) that is useable on anything in store, including cards.
While most Hallmark cards are a little pricier, there are a variety of options in-store that are budget-friendly and cheaper than Dollar Tree. In the company's value section, you can find $0.99 cards. You can purchase two of these cards with a $2 reward and get your free card of teh month- a total of 3 cards for free. (Side note: different stores have different rules and may require you to spend over the $2 mark to redeem the coupon, but it varies place by place.)
The rewards dollars are also usable on clearance- and Gold Crown stores tend to have great clearance offerings around the start of the year and in the summer months to move old products.
Best Budget-Friendly Options for Greeting Cards
If you need a decent amount of greeting cards, the cheapest option is thrift shopping. You may have to dig a little to find what you want, but that’s part of the fun. Making your own cards, even if they’re very simple little notes, is also a good alternative. You can get 50 sheets of construction paper from Walmart for less than $2, and armed with a little glue and some scissors, there is very little limit to what you could create.
But if you’re looking for a single card and want good quality, Hallmark’s free card is a great option- or if you want to start collecting them month by month so you have a selection ready whenever it’s needed.
Conclusion
Hallmark’s free monthly card is a great way to start your new year by sending a little love and kindness. Whether you know someone going through a hard time or want to send a little note to someone, you won’t want to miss getting free cards.
